Privacy Policy

The Starkind ("we", "us", "the site") is operated by NeuralChain Hub FZC LLC, a free-zone company registered at Ajman NuVentures Centre Free Zone, United Arab Emirates. NCH FZC LLC is the data controller for any personal data processed via this site. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do with it, and what your rights are under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, "PDPL").
The short version
We collect very little. We don't sell your data to anyone. We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which articles help people, and we show ads on some pages through Google AdSense. You can use the site without creating an account.
What we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how long people stay, and which articles are most useful. This collects your approximate location (country/city), device type, browser, and pages visited. It does not collect your name, email, or any other personally identifying information.
Lawful basis (PDPL): your consent, given through the cookie banner. You can
withdraw at any time by reopening Cookie preferences in the footer.
Retention: Google retains GA4 data per its default policies (currently up to
14 months for event-level data). We do not download or store this data outside Google's tools.
Ads
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google may use cookies to show personalised ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's ads settings.
Lawful basis (PDPL): your consent. AdSense will not load until you grant the
Advertising consent category.
Retention: handled by Google. We don't store any AdSense-related data on our
own servers.
Tools that use your location
Some of our tools — like Tonight's Sky — ask your browser for your location to tell you what's visible above you. This location is used only inside your browser while the tool runs. It is not sent to us, stored, or shared with anyone. If you'd rather not share your location, you can enter a city name instead, in which case only the city name (not your coordinates) is sent to our geocoding provider, OpenCage, to convert it into latitude and longitude.
Lawful basis (PDPL): your consent — the browser's location permission prompt
for the device flow, and your typed input for the city-search flow.
Retention: we never store your coordinates anywhere. When you close the page,
they are gone.
When you email us
If you contact us at contact@neuralchainhub.com, we'll keep your email and message until the conversation is resolved. We don't add you to any mailing list without your permission.
Lawful basis (PDPL): legitimate interest — answering an enquiry you sent us.
Retention: we keep email correspondence until the conversation is resolved,
and delete it within 24 months of the last reply, unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
What we do NOT collect
- We don't require an account.
- We don't ask for your name, phone number, or address.
- We don't track you across other websites.
- We don't sell any data to any third party.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores on your device. We organise our cookies into four categories that mirror the consent banner:
- Essential — Required for the site to work. Always active. Includes the small record of your cookie choice itself, so we don't ask again on every visit.
- Functional — Optional. If enabled, we may store preferences such as your theme choice (red-light mode) or your last-used location for the sky tools.
- Analytics — Optional. Loads Google Analytics 4 if you accept this category, so we can see which articles people read and how the site performs.
- Advertising — Optional. Loads Google AdSense (when active) if you accept this category, so we can show family-friendly ads.
You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer. You can also disable cookies entirely in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may behave differently.
Vendors who help run the site
The Starkind uses a small number of third parties to run. Each one has its own privacy practices, which we link to below.
- Google (Google Analytics 4, Google AdSense) — analytics and advertising. Loaded only after you grant the matching consent category. Google's privacy policy.
- OpenCage — converts a city name you type into coordinates for the Tonight's Sky tool. Only the city name you type is sent; no other data leaves your browser. OpenCage's privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosts the site infrastructure (the servers that deliver these pages to you). Vercel's privacy policy.
We will update this list if we add new third-party services. If you'd rather not have requests go to any third party, you can decline analytics and advertising in Cookie preferences, and avoid using the city-search field in the Tonight's Sky tool.
Children's privacy
Our content is family-friendly and we explicitly write some articles for parents to read with their kids. Under the UAE PDPL, a child is anyone under the age of 18, and processing a minor's personal data normally requires the consent of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data through this site (for example, by sending an email), please contact us and we will delete it. Other jurisdictions use lower age thresholds (the United States uses 13 under COPPA); we apply the strictest threshold that applies to you.
Your rights
Under the UAE PDPL — and similar laws in other places — you have the following rights over the personal data we hold about you:
- Right to access — ask us what data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — ask us to correct anything that's wrong.
- Right to erasure — ask us to delete your data.
- Right to restriction of processing — ask us to pause processing in specific circumstances.
- Right to data portability — ask for a copy of your data in a structured, common format.
- Right to object — to processing for marketing or based on legitimate interests.
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time. For cookie-based processing, the fastest way is the Cookie preferences link in the footer.
- Right to lodge a complaint — with the UAE Data Office (the regulator under the PDPL) if you believe we have mishandled your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@neuralchainhub.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date. Substantial changes will be announced on the site.
